About The Position
Deer River High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Long Term Substitute Physical Education Teacher. The position maintains continuity of the physical education curriculum and ensures students engage in meaningful physical activity during the regular teacher’s absence. The teacher will deliver lessons aligned with state standards and the school curriculum, assess student progress, foster a safe and inclusive environment, maintain student records, adapt activities to students’ needs, and supervise students during physical activities. The listed dates are November 23, 2026 through December 18, 2026.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field.
- Valid state teaching certification or license in Physical Education.
- Strong knowledge of physical education principles, fitness concepts, and health education.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience teaching physical education at the high school level.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and comprehensive physical education lessons aligned with state standards and the school curriculum.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support physical development and fitness goals.

- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and performance in physical education activities.
