About The Position

The CIS Physical Education teacher creates and administers a classroom program that is conducive to student learning and which emphasizes mutual respect for all people. The CIS teacher will primarily be responsible for teaching Physical Education. (Assignment in Elementary, Middle, or High will be determined based upon best fit and experience). The teacher should use a variety of classroom techniques for learning and implement interdisciplinary, outdoor experiences, educational technologies, and collaborative work with other teachers and classrooms into the CIS curriculum. The CIS teacher is flexible and committed to a continuous process for professional growth. The CIS teacher is flexible during the unprecedented COVID pandemic and is committed to instructing students via Remote Instruction when necessary.

Requirements

  • BA or BS in K-6, 6-8 Education, or a content related field.
  • Must have a background and experience in working with physical, gross motor development of students K – 12.
  • Experience with using educational technologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including public speaking.
  • The ability to establish cooperative working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and parents.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • A comfort and excitement about working with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • A high level of interest in collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement a creative, engaging, and stimulating program that entails a high level of collaboration with students, including individual skill development and differentiation.
  • Promote high expectations, demonstrate a caring attitude, and establish an environment that supports social, emotional, and academic development in students.
  • Frequently communicate with parents and caregivers about their child’s progress by phone, email, in conferences, newsletters, and through report cards.
  • Be available for individual meetings when needed.
  • Evaluate the progress of each student through formal and informal assessment.
  • Use positive and productive techniques for improving student behavior.
  • Integrate the CIS philosophies of international, and global environmental studies within the classroom curriculum.
  • Instruct students in an ongoing understanding of the school's four core values of respect, responsibility, solutions-oriented, and service.
  • Advocate for the school, its faculty/staff, students, and programs.
  • Attend all monthly faculty/staff meetings and participate actively as a team member.
  • Attend and participate in all in-service and faculty professional development days.
  • Attend all scheduled individual and PLC meetings with the assigned Assistant Principal.
  • Share hallway and other duties equitably.
  • Coach at least one sports season. (additional club responsibilities may apply)
