This position is for an Elementary English Language Development (ELD) Teacher who will be responsible for managing the learning environment, preparing lesson plans, instructing students, and evaluating student performance to advance achievement. The role requires an understanding and appreciation of diversity, collaborative planning, and a commitment to continuous learning. Specific duties may include AZELLA testing and other ADE compliance requirements for English Learners and other PHLOTE students. The teacher will work with students of varying language proficiency levels at 2-3 different sites as an itinerant. This position is effective for the 2026-2027 school year and offers higher pay due to community-approved override funding guaranteed through June 2031. The position is located in Language Acquisition, 1010 E 10th Street, with a Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) of 1.0, working 7.5 hours per day on a 9.5-month work calendar. Grade levels available are K-5. Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits. Salary will be prorated if the start date is after the first day of the work calendar. Internal candidates will transfer at a rate commensurate with their bargaining unit language. Probationary Contracts will be issued for any contingent Certifications, Positions that are 0.6 FTE or less, and certified employees within their first three years with the District.
