BRICK Networks seeks to hire teachers that have a passionate belief in BRICK’s mission and a deep desire to work with underserved black and brown students and families. The ideal candidate is culturally competent, solutions’ oriented, uses data to inform instruction, communicates and collaborates effectively with their team, and responds to feedback urgently. A BRICK Teacher approaches the work with humility and maintains positive relationship with colleagues, students, families. BRICK staff LOVE the community they serve. Teachers must be willing to do whatever it takes to ensure their students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional success.

  • Proficiency in working with computers, including commonly used software like Google Documents, Google Sheets, and Excel.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Current authorization to work in United States – A candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting students and families on the East Side of Buffalo is strongly preferred.
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Prior experience working with children strongly preferred
  • Willingness to travel to attend professional development sessions or to participate in other learning experiences with BRICK Education Network staff

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging physical education and health instruction that promotes fitness, teamwork, healthy habits, and lifelong wellness.
  • Create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment where all students can participate and succeed.
  • Plan and facilitate whole-school and grade-level wellness activities, fitness challenges, and events that encourage physical activity and social-emotional development.
  • Utilize student assessment data and observations to monitor progress, adjust instruction, and meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Differentiate instruction to support students with varying learning styles, abilities, and developmental needs.
  • Execute network-adopted curriculum, unit plans, and lesson plans to accelerate student learning and social-emotional growth.
  • Teach, reinforce, and uphold school-wide systems, expectations, and routines.
  • Build strong relationships with students and families through consistent communication, school events, and community engagement.
  • Build and sustain a positive, safe, and achievement-oriented school culture aligned to BRICK's core values through restorative practices, social-emotional learning, and positive behavior systems.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Identify, monitor, and respond to behavior, attendance, and school culture trends through data analysis, strategic interventions, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Provide Tier II and Tier III behavioral and social-emotional supports, including mentoring, restorative practices, behavior plans, and targeted student interventions.
  • Manage student discipline processes, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure compliance with all reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with teachers, school leaders, and support staff to strengthen school-wide culture, climate, attendance, and student success initiatives.
  • Provide consultation and support to staff regarding behavior management, restorative practices, and student support strategies.
  • Attend and actively participate in grade-level, department, staff, coaching, and professional development meetings.
  • Coordinate and support school-wide events, celebrations, community meetings, and student engagement activities.
  • Exemplify BRICK's core values and serve as a positive role model for students and staff.
  • Demonstrate cultural responsiveness, empathy, professionalism, and a commitment to educational equity.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices, strengthen adult culture, and continuously improve student outcomes.
