About The Position

Lowell Community Charter Public School (LCCPS) is seeking a Physical Education/Health Teacher for K1-8 grades. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, required.
  • MA Department of Education Certification required.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal).

Nice To Haves

  • 2-4 years of teaching experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach skills and knowledge in physical fitness, health education, and individual, dual, or team sports.
  • Work cooperatively with other physical education teachers in planning a balanced physical education and health program.
  • Analyze, demonstrate, and explain basic skills, concept knowledge, and vocabulary strategies of sports, games, rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement.
  • Analyze, diagnose, and provide appropriate cues for physical activity performance to maximize student practice and learning on a regular basis.
  • Provide appropriate safety instruction and make safety checks on equipment and gym area to ensure the overall safety of students.
  • Maintain control of storage and use of school-owned property.
  • Maintain an auditable record of student attendance and make daily reports of students absent.
  • Take attendance in each class period.
  • Develop written lesson plans and other instructional materials and provide for individualized group instruction, as appropriate to the classroom.
  • Identify student needs and cooperate with other staff members in assessing and helping students gain a growth mindset and an enjoyment and appreciation for physical education.
  • Establish positive relationships and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide for an orderly, productive environment.
  • Follow school disciplinary procedures.
  • Evaluate each student's progress in concepts and skill development and prepare reports as required.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
