At Mooseheart Child City & School, we're looking for an energetic and dedicated educator to inspire students through Physical Education, Health, and Driver's Education. In this unique and impactful role, you'll guide students in developing lifelong wellness habits-both in and out of the classroom-while being part of a supportive, mission-driven community. About the Role As a Physical Education, Health, and Driver's Education Teacher, you'll create engaging learning experiences that promote physical fitness, personal wellness, and responsible decision-making. You'll foster a safe, inclusive, and active environment where every student can grow academically, physically, and socially. Note: Driver's Education (classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction) takes place during the summer school session.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Health, Kinesiology, or a related field (preferred)
  • Valid teaching license with PE and/or Health endorsements
  • Driver's Education certification (or eligibility) per state requirements
  • Experience teaching PE, Health, or working with youth (preferred)
  • Passion for student wellness and development
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Ability to motivate and engage students of all abilities
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to actively demonstrate and participate in physical activities
  • Comfortable standing, moving, and engaging throughout the school day
  • Ability to lift and manage sports equipment as needed

Responsibilities

  • Design and lead engaging activities that promote fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship
  • Teach individual and team sports, conditioning, and lifelong fitness skills
  • Encourage participation and build confidence in all students
  • Monitor student progress and ensure a safe, structured environment
  • Teach essential topics like nutrition, mental health, personal wellness, and healthy decision-making
  • Facilitate meaningful discussions that promote positive behaviors and life skills
  • Empower students to take ownership of their health and well-being
  • Deliver classroom instruction aligned with state driver's education requirements
  • Provide supervised behind-the-wheel training
  • Teach traffic laws, defensive driving, and safe driving habits
  • Prepare students for licensing exams and responsible driving
  • Create a respectful, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
  • Develop lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards
  • Use diverse teaching strategies to support all learners
  • Maintain equipment, facilities, and instructional materials
  • Track and assess student progress through performance and participation
  • Maintain accurate records of grades and attendance
  • Communicate regularly with students, families, and staff
  • Partner with teachers, counselors, and administrators to support student success
  • Participate in school meetings, professional development, and committees
  • Contribute to school-wide wellness initiatives
  • Assist with student supervision during activities and events
