About The Position

This position provides physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) patient care, PM&R leadership, and coordinates rehabilitation team care. It also involves participating in administrative and quality assurance functions as requested.

Requirements

  • Member of active medical staff at Hospital for Special Care - required.
  • Board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation - required.

Responsibilities

  • Act as rehabilitation attending physician in direct patient care in the inpatient and outpatient programs through providing initial consultation and clinical reviews.
  • Write orders for rehabilitation services.
  • Direct the Rehabilitation Team Review and Family Meetings.
  • Interact with medical attending physicians and referring physicians to ensure continuity of medical care.
  • Document rehabilitation progress.
  • Provide active management direction for the person’s rehabilitation program ensuring it is consistent with the person’s predicted outcomes.
  • Participate in Physiatry Medicine rotating inpatient coverage as well as chronic care consultative coverage.
  • Plans/implement all interventions/interactions with an awareness of cultural, ethnic, religious, language, and age related/developmental needs of each patient.
  • Have regular, direct contact with the person, based on the rehabilitation and medical needs of the person served.
  • In coordination with the hospital's employee health services staff, provide medical treatment to hospital employees eligible for employee health services through the hospital's employee health services program.
  • Participate in medical staff and rehabilitation physician meetings, assist in policy formulation and plan activity to advance the Department of PM&R at Hospital for Special Care.
  • Participate in department peer review and quality assurance activities.
  • Represent PM&R on selected hospital wide committees.
  • Provide high quality education for medical students, residents and geriatric fellows in rehabilitation services.
