The WRIC Photographer/Video Editor operates video and editing equipment to produce images or scenes for newscasts and other programming. This role involves organizing and editing raw video footage to match scripts or instructions, reviewing assembled footage for necessary corrections, and trimming recorded segments to specified lengths. The editor will reassemble segments into sequences that present stories effectively, determine necessary audio and visual effects, and set up and operate computer editing systems, titling systems, video switching equipment, and digital video effects units. The position requires selecting and combining the most effective shots to form a logical story, shooting video for news reports, and conferring with other personnel to discuss assignments and shot requirements. Additionally, the role involves setting up, composing, and executing video shots, maintaining video equipment, editing video clips for television broadcasts and digital content, and operating live microwave, satellite trucks, and live Backpack TVU equipment. Other duties as assigned are also part of the role.
