About The Position

The position is needed for the equipment engineering group in the Photo area, responsible for manufacturing equipment. This role focuses on equipment failure analysis and characterization. WD is building the infrastructure behind the AI-driven data economy, combining deep engineering expertise with global-scale manufacturing to deliver storage systems that make AI possible, powering hyperscale data centers, cloud platforms, and enterprise infrastructure worldwide. This is a hands-on role solving challenging problems in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

AS/BS degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or computer science is preferred.
Analytical, logical, and data-driven with demonstrated ability in fixing and providing equipment resolutions.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects with set milestones and timelines, and ability to execute under minimal supervision.
A responsible and team player.
Detail-oriented and willingness to learn and thrive in a cross-functional manufacturing environment.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Able to work and interact with various interdepartmental engineering and other support organizations.
Ability to understand electrical schematics and troubleshoot equipment.
Understand Photo equipment process, optics, electrical, mechanical, and robotics knowledge.
Provide equipment training to the maintenance team.
Utilize micro-computer applications for equipment optimization, troubleshooting, and analysis of tool performance.
Assist EE provide solutions for equipment performance reports, 8D resolutions, and follow through on action items.

Responsibilities

Assist Equipment Engineering in optimizing, improving, and providing solutions/feedback for equipment.
Learn and maintain obsolescence tools.
Train and assist with Preventative Maintenance (PMs), particularly for PAS tools, to upskill shifts and alleviate shift-specific PM needs.
Keep data organized, highlight potential problems, and provide feedback on resource needs across all shifts.
Work with the maintenance team to troubleshoot, provide long-term solutions, and conduct training.
Lead and drive corrective actions associated with equipment issues.
Assist in transitioning the FR/GO Wiki.
Monitor equipment performance, identify issues, and fix tools.
Certify and train maintenance, chemical technicians, and equipment tool owners.
Establish written procedures and specifications for maintenance technicians.
Work with the process engineering team to provide resolution/reduction of rework and scrap issues.
Work with EE (Electrical Engineering) on investigations for equipment-related excursions and provide solutions.
Assist EE in preparing 8D summaries for maintenance, production, process, and various department stakeholders.
Provide safety recommendations on equipment and ensure tools meet QA site requirements.
Assist EE with parts inventory, research second source options, and engineer parts if necessary to support equipment.
Work with equipment vendors to ensure tool performance and support, as well as escalate line-down situations.
