About The Position

This is a student intern position within the Marketing and Communications team of the Moody College of Communication at the University of Texas at Austin. The intern will be responsible for capturing compelling photos and videos to support the college's digital storytelling and brand marketing efforts, aiming to enhance student engagement and college visibility. This role offers an opportunity to build a professional portfolio in a creative, fast-paced university environment.

Requirements

  • Current UT Austin student
  • Familiar with Moody College
  • Must be a rising junior or senior
  • Skilled with DSLR and mirrorless camera systems
  • Experience editing short and longform video using Adobe Premiere Pro or similar editing platform
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop, Lightroom and other photo-editing software
  • Basic knowledge of graphic design
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and self-motivation
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal office hours
  • Problem-solver who knows when to ask for help
  • Works well with a team
  • Comfortable engaging with new people
  • Maintain communication, respectful conduct, punctuality and adaptability

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with social media platforms, specifically Instagram.

Responsibilities

  • Receive assignments and direction from the Social Media and Digital Content Manager to build a library of marketing photos and b-roll footage.
  • Photograph Moody College events and headshots for social media and editorial use.
  • Create social media assets using photos and videos to promote editorial content.
  • Interview students, staff, and faculty for marketing and editorial videos.
  • Discuss photo shoots with the supervisor to create a shot list.
  • Assist in the organization of photo and video assets, including uploading, backup, editing, and following naming protocols.
  • Brainstorm and submit ideas for weekly intern meetings.
  • Meet weekly with the Social Media and Digital Content Manager.
