Requirements

• Accurate and timely collection, labeling, processing and delivery of patient specimens.
• Verification of sample receipt in LIS.
• Centrifugation and other pre-analytic steps.
• Use of automated track system.
• Order entry of laboratory tests into LIS.
• Processing of samples to a referral laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Accurate and timely (as defined by Quality Improvement Indicators) collection, labeling, processing and delivery of patient specimens to the laboratory.
• Processing functions include timely retrieval of specimens from transport systems, verification of sample receipt in LIS, centrifugation and other pre-analytic steps, including use of automated track system.
• Order entry of laboratory tests into LIS.
• Processing of samples to a referral laboratory.
