About The Position
The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Pathology is seeking to fill a Phlebotomy Technician I position. This role involves performing phlebotomy/specimen collection, various laboratory tasks related to phlebotomy, labeling specimens, handling telephone inquiries, and distributing phlebotomy supplies. The position is located at the downtown campus, a 194-bed hospital providing a community-based model of care, connected to the expertise, technology, collaboration, and support of the entire health system. This is a 100% position with a schedule of Monday-Friday, 1330-2200, with rotating holidays. The location is Iowa City, IA.
Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent
- Previous public contact/customer service experience
Nice To Haves
- Completion of a phlebotomy training program or previous phlebotomy experience
- Minimum six (6) months previous experience working in a healthcare setting
- Basic computer skills
- Previous experience with Personal Protective Equipment
- Previous patient contact experience
Responsibilities
- Performs phlebotomy draws
- Performs computer data entry and other clerical tasks as required
- Orders, receives, and distributes supplies
- Responds to basic phlebotomy inquiries and otherwise represents assigned and related work areas
