About The Position

The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Pathology is seeking to fill a Phlebotomy Technician I position. This role involves performing phlebotomy/specimen collection, various laboratory tasks related to phlebotomy, labeling specimens, handling telephone inquiries, and distributing phlebotomy supplies. The position is 100% time and located at the downtown campus, which is a 194-bed hospital providing a community-based model of care connected to the expertise of the entire health system. The work contributes to making Iowa better.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent
  • Previous public contact/customer service experience

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a phlebotomy training program or previous phlebotomy experience
  • Minimum six (6) months previous experience working in a healthcare setting
  • Basic computer skills
  • Previous experience with Personal Protective Equipment
  • Previous patient contact experience

Responsibilities

  • Performs phlebotomy draws
  • Performs computer data entry and other clerical tasks as required
  • Orders, receives, and distributes supplies
  • Responds to basic phlebotomy inquiries and otherwise represents assigned and related work areas
