About The Position

Under the supervision of the Manager, Preanalytical Laboratory Services and Phlebotomy Supervisors, the Phlebotomy Technician I performs phlebotomist responsibilities, including routine blood collection for patients of all age groups, including neonates and infants. The role also requires the knowledge and skills to work in the Laboratory’s Specimen Processing and Receiving area and to provide care appropriate to patients’ ages in the assigned area.

Requirements

• Graduate of a vocational program in phlebotomy or three months of experience.
• High school diploma, GED, or certificate.
• Undergo background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse, as required for individuals providing care to vulnerable populations.

Nice To Haves

• Demonstrated knowledge of relevant computer skills for the patient identification system and specimen processing functions.
• Ability to interact successfully with patients, staff, and other healthcare providers, with excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities
