About The Position

Distinctive Home & Health Care is hiring a full-time Phlebotomy Tech at Hickam AFB in Hawaii. The role involves collecting and processing blood samples from patients, with a focus on patient identification, infection control, and selecting appropriate blood-draw methods. The position requires a phlebotomy certificate and relevant training, experience, and certification or registration.

Requirements

• Certificate in phlebotomy.
• Graduate from an academic phlebotomy course that includes 120 didactic hours, or the hours required by state law.
• Complete 1,040 hours as a Phlebotomy Technician within the past three years.
• Perform 50 successful venipunctures and 10 successful skin punctures.
• Certification or registration as determined by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or AMT, as specified in the task order.
• Basic Life Support certification; additional certification requirements may depend on the state.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples from patients.
• Practice proper patient identification, especially when working on hospital floors.
• Label vials with patient names and dates.
• Determine the best method for drawing blood based on the patient.
• Centrifuge blood samples when permitted by state requirements.
• Work with patients of varying ages and health statuses.
• Follow infection control standards when working with patients and equipment.
