About The Position

Collect venous and capillary specimens using Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and aseptic technique in multiple inpatient and outpatient settings; Perform bedside testing; Perform Laboratory Information System (LIS) functions; Provide instruction to students/personnel; Perform laboratory related duties as requested by the Manager.

Requirements

• High School Degree or Equivalent
• 0-6 months experience (Phlebotomist I)
• Completed Accredited Phlebotomy Certificate Course
• At least 6 months phlebotomy experience required (Phlebotomist II)
• 2 Years work experience in phlebotomy required (Phlebotomist III)
• Internal candidates are required to submit and meet Path and Lab ICCE Career Ladder requirements.
• External candidates are required to complete Path and Lab ICCE Career Ladder requirements within 90 days in position (Phlebotomist II).
• External candidates are required to complete Path and Lab ICCE Career Ladder requirements within 6 months in position (Phlebotomist III).

Responsibilities

• Collect venous and capillary specimens using Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and aseptic technique in multiple inpatient and outpatient settings
• Perform bedside testing
• Perform Laboratory Information System (LIS) functions
• Provide instruction to students/personnel
• Perform laboratory related duties as requested by the Manager
• Draws and collects blood samples from patients, verifies records and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis
• May prick finger to draw blood
• May conduct interviews, take vital signs, and draw and test blood samples to screen donors at blood bank
