The supervisor evaluates collection equipment, techniques, and workflow patterns, preparing reports with recommendations. They are responsible for personnel actions such as hiring, performance appraisals, and scheduling. Additionally, this position monitors employee competencies, oversees the operations and performance of phlebotomy and processing staff, and assesses results against job descriptions and quality indicators. The role includes procuring blood and other laboratory specimens, processing and handling specimens, and responding to inquiries about lab results and specimen status. Effective communication with patients and staff, maintaining professional growth, participating in performance improvement programs, and providing staff training are also key aspects. The supervisor ensures an English speaking environment in work areas and performs other related duties as assigned.
