About The Position
Phlebotomists are responsible for efficiently and accurately performing blood draws and assisting with other minor laboratory tests on patients.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of a phlebotomy or medical assisting program
- Demonstrated commitment to UMC Core Values
- Willing to work a flexible work schedule, both inpatient and outpatient
Responsibilities
- Prepare patient rooms for blood draws and/or lab procedures; gathering medical testing materials
- Assist in performing minor lab test that include but not limited to pregnancy, MONO, and certain other rapid testing, when needed
- Use standard protocol to properly identify patient information before labeling samples
- Adequately updating patient information in database
- Address STAT and timed laboratory requests timely and in a courteous manner
- Participate in teaching/ training new phlebotomist
- All other assigned duties related to the medical lab
