This is a 4-month full-time temporary position designed to provide on-the-job training to develop the necessary phlebotomy skills for the Inpatient Phlebotomist - Vascular Access Technician position. The role involves various tasks in hospital patient care areas, including specimen receipt, identification verification, tracking, packaging, and transport, as well as supply stocking and answering phones. The phlebotomy assistant will learn basic phlebotomy knowledge and collection skills to perform supervised blood collections on adult patients, ensuring proper patient identification, adherence to collection procedures, bedside labeling, and specimen transport for analysis. Compliance with regulatory and safety requirements, and maintaining patient confidentiality are essential. The position requires the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, utilizing strong customer service and communication skills with patients and healthcare professionals to ensure high customer satisfaction. A positive and professional demeanor is expected, along with flexibility in scheduling, including off-shifts, holidays, and weekends. Visa sponsorship is not available, and this position does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
