This is a 4-month full time temporary position designed to provide on-the-job training to develop the necessary phlebotomy skills for the Inpatient Phlebotomist - Vascular Access Technician position. The role involves various tasks within hospital general patient care areas, including specimen receipt, identification verification, tracking, packaging, and transport. It also includes supply stocking and answering phones. The phlebotomy assistant will learn basic phlebotomy knowledge and collection skills to perform supervised blood collections on adult patients. This includes patient identification, collecting blood according to procedure, labeling at the bedside, and transporting specimens to the lab. The position requires compliance with regulatory and safety requirements, upholding patient confidentiality, and demonstrating good customer relations and communication skills. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential. A positive and professional demeanor is expected, along with flexibility to accommodate scheduling adjustments, off-shifts, holidays, and weekend work assignments.
