About The Position

This position is responsible for the accurate and timely collection of blood specimens according to departmental practices. The Phlebotomist will ensure accurate identification and delivery of patient samples to appropriate lab sections, and follow proper safety and identification procedures when dealing with patients and/or specimens. The role also involves improving work skills through self-study and continuing education, contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of the section and department, and protecting self, coworkers, and the facility by following policies and procedures to prevent the spread of bloodborne and/or airborne diseases. The Phlebotomist will exhibit and promote the professional image of laboratories and provide age-appropriate specimen collection. Adherence to general Medical Center standards is expected to promote a cooperative work environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

One year phlebotomy experience preferred.

Exhibits and promotes the professional image of laboratories in accordance with hospital, department, and professional society philosophies, goals and standards of laboratory testing.
Provides age-appropriate specimen collection in accordance with age specific guidelines for school age, adolescents, early adults, middle adults and/or late adults.
Adheres to the general Medical Center standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.
