About The Position

This full-time Phlebotomist position is located at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center - Lab: Phlebotomy Services on the Winston Campus. The role involves ensuring accurate and timely collection of blood specimens, proper identification and delivery of samples, and adherence to safety and identification procedures. The phlebotomist will also contribute to the efficient operation of the department, protect against the spread of diseases, and maintain a professional image. The position requires providing age-appropriate specimen collection and fostering a cooperative work environment. This role is eligible for benefits and operates on a Monday-Friday, 3rd shift schedule from 11p-7:30a.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

  • One year phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assures accurate and timely collection of blood specimens, according to departmental practices.
  • Assures accurate identification and delivery of patient samples to appropriate lab sections.
  • Follows proper safety and identification procedures when dealing with patients and/or specimens under any circumstance or environment.
  • Improves work skills through self-study and continuing education.
  • Contributes to the smooth and efficient operation of the section and department.
  • Protects self, coworkers and facility by following approval policies and procedures to prevent the spread of blood borne and/or airborne diseases.
  • Exhibits and promotes the professional image of laboratories in accordance with hospital, department, and professional society philosophies, goals and standards of laboratory testing.
  • Provides age-appropriate specimen collection in accordance with age specific guidelines for school age, adolescents, early adults, middle adults and/or late adults.
  • Adheres to the general Medical Center standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.
