About The Position

Any Lab Test Now – West Chester, PA is seeking a professional, compassionate, and detail-oriented Phlebotomist to join our patient services team. The Phlebotomist is responsible for providing a positive patient experience while safely and accurately performing blood draws and other specimen collections. The ideal candidate is confident with venipuncture, attentive to detail, comfortable working with patients of all ages, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, specimen integrity, confidentiality, and customer service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and specimen collection procedures.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and infection-control standards.

  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to sit and perform computer and administrative tasks.
  • Ability to perform repetitive phlebotomy and specimen-processing activities.
  • Ability to bend, reach, and safely handle laboratory supplies.
  • Ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment as required.
  • Ability to safely perform venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Phlebotomy certification preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program preferred.
  • Previous professional phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Experience performing venipuncture on a variety of patients strongly preferred.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification preferred.
  • Experience in one or more of the following settings is preferred: Independent diagnostic laboratory, Patient service center, Physician's office, Hospital or outpatient laboratory, Medical office, Blood donation or collection center, Occupational health, Mobile phlebotomy.

Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections accurately and safely.
  • Collect blood, urine, swab, and other specimens according to test requirements and established procedures.
  • Verify patient identity using appropriate identification procedures before specimen collection.
  • Review laboratory requisitions and ensure the correct tests and collection requirements are followed.
  • Properly label, process, prepare, and package specimens for laboratory testing and transport.
  • Maintain specimen integrity throughout the collection and processing process.
  • Follow proper order-of-draw procedures and specimen handling requirements.
  • Provide clear instructions to patients regarding specimen collection and preparation.
  • Monitor patients during and after blood collection for signs of discomfort, dizziness, or adverse reactions.
  • Respond appropriately to difficult draws and escalate concerns when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked phlebotomy area.
  • Follow OSHA, infection-control, bloodborne-pathogen, and laboratory safety requirements.
