Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Typing and basic computer skills required

Nice To Haves

  • Phlebotomy certification (CPT) or health related experience preferred
  • On the job training may be provided

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrating proficiency in phlebotomy and specimen collection using age‑appropriate techniques and devices
  • Ensuring safe handling and proper collection methods to maintain specimen integrity and quality
  • Correctly labeling, accessioning, and delivering specimens to the appropriate laboratory departments
  • Responding promptly and professionally to STAT, ASAP, NOW, and outpatient phlebotomy requests
  • Maintaining the specimen collection component of the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
  • Performing patient registration functions for courier‑delivered specimens
  • Communicating effectively with clinical staff, laboratory personnel, and other departments
  • Alerting appropriate staff regarding STAT orders and other urgent needs
