The position also includes performing limited testing, answering telephone calls, assisting with inventory and supplies, supporting billing functions, accepting and sorting specimens, packaging and tracking specimens for transport, processing specimens for testing, ordering and verifying test requests, documenting information for quality assurance, running quality control checks, notifying providers of stat/critical results, performing laboratory result entry, and performing proficiency testing. Additionally, the role involves reviewing reports, generating and distributing reports, and instructing employees and students in phlebotomy and related functions. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served.
