The Phlebotomist position is a part-time role on the 2nd shift, working Monday - Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 07:30 p.m. and Friday from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. This role also requires rotating Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with no Sundays. The pay range for this position is $19.80 - $29.70. The Phlebotomist is responsible for verifying patient identification, assessing patient reactions to specimen procurement, and performing venipuncture and collecting other specimens from patients of all age groups. They ensure specimens are collected according to protocol, properly labeled, and suitable for testing. The role also involves resolving specimen identification issues, performing limited testing under CLIA guidelines, answering phones, assisting with inventory, and supporting billing functions. Additionally, the Phlebotomist accepts, receives, sorts, packages, and tracks specimens for transport, processes specimens for testing, and responds to specimen procurement requests. They also order and verify test requests, document information for quality assurance, run quality control checks, notify providers of critical results, and perform laboratory result entry. The position includes performing proficiency testing, reviewing reports, and instructing employees and students in phlebotomy and related functions. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served.
