Phlebotomist: 24 Hours Per Week (AM/PM)
About The Position
Franciscan Health is seeking a Phlebotomist for their Michigan City location. This role involves collecting blood specimens, performing laboratory office duties, and processing laboratory specimens. Responsibilities include patient registration, data entry, specimen accessioning, answering phones, and processing paperwork. Specimen processing involves preparing samples for testing and shipment. The role may also include performing waived and specified non-waived POC tests, acting as a driver, and participating in on-call rotations depending on the facility. This is a part-time position with 24 hours per week.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Previous phlebotomy experience and/or training is required
- Valid driver’s license and a good driving record

- Background in a medical laboratory
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- May be required to travel/drive to other locations
Responsibilities
- Collection of blood specimens
- Performing laboratory office duties
- Processing laboratory specimens
- Registering patients
- Accurately and completely entering all necessary data into the computer system
- Specimen accessioning
- Answering telephone calls
- Processing paperwork
- Preparation of specimens for testing and/or for sending to the central laboratory or to a reference laboratory
- Handling blood, body fluid and urine specimens according to established procedures
- Performing limited waived and specified non-waived POC tests as authorized by the Laboratory Director
- Acting as a driver (as required)
- Participating in the on-call rotation (as required)
