About The Position

This role is responsible for the initial management of specimens of all age groups and assigning priorities of care in accordance with triage standards. The phlebotomist will demonstrate proficiency in all testing procedures/policies according to the Standard Operating Procedure Manual (SOPM) and the ability to identify and evaluate appropriate actions to resolve problems. This position also involves performing and evaluating QA/QC, providing lab support to a supervisor or a qualified medical technologist as requested, and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum: High School diploma or equivalent
• Minimum: Valid NYS driver's license clear of violations consistent with the FLH Policy
• Minimum: Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the people in a professional and courteous manner.
• Minimum: Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.
• Minimum: Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills.
• Minimum: Computer literacy

Nice To Haves

• Preferred: Training in phlebotomy
• Preferred: Certified phlebotomist
• Preferred: Previous phlebotomy experience
• Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Office products and electronic medical record

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the initial management of specimens of all age groups and assigning priorities of care in accordance with triage standards.
• Demonstrates proficiency in all testing procedures/policies according to Standard Operating Procedure Manual (SOPM).
• Demonstrates the ability to identify, evaluate appropriate action to resolve problems (including contacts with service hot lines and representatives).
• Performs and evaluates QA/QC.
• Ability to provide lab support to supervisor or a qualified medical technologist as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
