Performs phlebotomy functions and non–technical duties. This role involves performing venipunctures, fingersticks, and heelsticks according to established procedures, ensuring patient identification and proper specimen labeling. The phlebotomist will also determine the priority of STAT draws, ensure timely transport of specimens, and utilize computers for assigned functions. Organization of work, accurate completion of workload statistics, and assisting coworkers are also key aspects of this position. Additionally, the role may involve training new employees, adhering to organizational policies, acting as a receptionist in the outpatient lab, maintaining cleanliness of equipment and the department, recording refrigerator temperatures, and demonstrating a strong awareness of safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment.
