About The Position

The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood and other patient specimens with a strong focus on minimizing discomfort and ensuring a positive patient experience. These samples are essential for accurate clinical laboratory testing and analysis. This position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in a fast-paced, high-volume multi-specialty clinic environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED

Experience preferred; but not required

Responsibilities

Maintain accuracy in all work
Complete tasks on time and per any deadlines
Label specimens with a high degree of accuracy
Ensure proper tubes are used for each blood test ordered
Verify the identity of every patient before collecting any samples
Be aware of Medicare guidelines, send-out test requirements, and special tests
Explain Medicare/Commerical ABNs to patients clearly and accurately
Perform venipuncture and finger/heel stick procedures with a high degree of professionalism and concern for the patient, including a minimum of 2 sticks per encounter
Collect nasal and throat swabs and blood cultures when needed
