About The Position

The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood and other patient specimens with a strong focus on minimizing discomfort and ensuring a positive patient experience. These samples are essential for accurate clinical laboratory testing and analysis. This position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in a fast-paced, high-volume multi-specialty clinic environment. Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accuracy in all work; Complete tasks on time and per any deadlines, label specimens with a high degree of accuracy, ensure proper tubes are used for each blood test ordered
  • Verify the identity of every patient before collecting any samples
  • Be aware of Medicare guidelines, send-out test requirements, and special tests; Explain Medicare/Commerical ABNs to patients clearly and accurately
  • Perform venipuncture and finger/heel stick procedures with a high degree of professionalism and concern for the patient, including a minimum of 2 sticks per encounter
  • Collect nasal and throat swabs and blood cultures when needed
