About The Position

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Phlebotomist to obtain quality blood samples using a variety of phlebotomy methods for all age groups, including venous, capillary, arterial, and line collections. The role involves providing rapid response to medical emergencies such as traumas and codes. Phlebotomists will work both independently and as part of a team, fostering an inclusive environment and respecting diverse backgrounds. They will interact with patients, nurses, providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure high customer satisfaction. Daily tasks include using various computer programs and systems, accurate patient identification, quality specimen labeling, handling, and transportation, answering phones, and assisting with the training of students and new employees. Individuals hired for this position are required to complete 2 years in the role before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship and Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.

Must be able to push a cart and walk distances.
Moderate to advanced computer skills.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely, and adjust to changes in work volumes and projects.
Excellent customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

Phlebotomy experience.
Experience working in a medical field.
Valid phlebotomy certification from an approved laboratory certification agency (e.g., ASCP, NHA, ASPT).
Medical Assistant (MA) certification from an approved agency (e.g., AMA).
Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification.
Medical Technologist (MT) certification.

Responsibilities

Travel to other MCHS locations for assignments as needed.
