About The Position

Draws blood from patients in a correctional hospital facility for analysis or other medical purposes. Possesses skills and knowledge in obtaining blood from venous and capillary sites. Uses correct procedures to accurately identify patients and specimens. Completes paperwork and maintains records as needed. Prepares biological specimens for analysis. Assists in maintaining the proper level of supplies. Must be well-organized and able to synchronize duties with other personnel. Reports incidents that are unusual or deficient to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to infection control standards and maintains patient and staff confidentiality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skills and knowledge in obtaining blood from venous and capillary sites.
  • Ability to accurately identify patients and specimens.
  • Ability to complete paperwork and maintain records.
  • Ability to prepare biological specimens for analysis.
  • Ability to maintain proper level of supplies.
  • Well-organized.
  • Able to synchronize duties with other personnel.
  • Adheres to infection control standards.
  • Maintains patient and staff confidentiality.
