About The Position

This is a full-time Phlebotomist position. The role requires flexibility to cover night shifts every other weekend. The ideal candidate is proficient at venipuncture attempts with a high success rate, ensures appropriate specimen collection for required tests, and adheres strictly to patient identification and specimen labeling protocols, understanding the implications of any deviation. This position also involves taking a leadership role in orienting and training new associates and students. The phlebotomist must demonstrate consistent ability to perform venipunctures on patients of all age groups, including infants and children, and complete all collections in a timely manner. Proficiency in using various collection equipment such as syringes, butterflies, lancets, vacutainers, and blood culture equipment is essential.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduate of an approved Phlebotomy program and/or have a minimum of one year of phlebotomy experience in an acute care hospital.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Cover night shifts every other weekend.
  • Perform venipuncture attempts with at least 98% proficiency.
  • Ensure specimen collected is appropriate for the test required (collect tube, amount of blood).
  • Follow protocol for patient identification and specimen labeling at all times.
  • Take a leadership role in orientation and training of new Associates and students.
  • Perform venipunctures on infants, children, and adults.
  • Perform all collections in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of proper utilization of various types of equipment, ie syringe, butterflies, lancets, vacutainers, blood culture equipment.
