About The Position

The Phlebotomist works in the Laboratory Department at Harbour View Medical Center. The role draws blood samples from patients, prepares specimens for laboratory testing, and completes clerical work to support efficient department operations. Duties include entering orders, looking up results, generating reports, and answering internal and external calls in a friendly and helpful manner. The position requires travel to off-site locations.

Requirements

• High school degree or GED.
• Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

• Phlebotomist certification is preferred but not required.
• One year of phlebotomy experience is preferred but not required.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide respectful customer service when greeting patients and community members.
• Collect specimens according to established procedures and ensure they are properly processed.
• Accurately identify patients and match each patient’s identity with the correct service.
• Enter data and process specimens by labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing them as requested by test orders.
• Perform departmental clerical duties, including checking inventory, stocking supplies, and answering phones as needed.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
