About The Position

The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood specimens, performing laboratory office duties, and processing laboratory specimens at the Outreach Phlebotomy Services—Alverno PSC Stones Crossing location in Greenwood, Indiana. Office duties include registering patients, accurately entering required data into the computer system, accessioning specimens, answering telephone calls, and processing paperwork. Specimen processing includes preparing specimens for testing or shipment to a central or reference laboratory. The role also handles blood, body fluid, and urine specimens according to established procedures and may perform limited waived and specified non-waived point-of-care tests as authorized by the Laboratory Director. As required, the employee may act as a driver and participate in the on-call rotation, and may need to travel or drive to other locations.

The position is listed as 40 hours per week, with a Monday–Friday shift of 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Saturday rotations from 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m., and weekend and/or holiday rotation. Shifts are rotating. The location is 1703 W Stones Crossing Rd, Suite 110, Greenwood, IN 46143.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Previous phlebotomy experience and/or training is required.
• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
• May be required to travel or drive to other locations.

Nice To Haves

• Background in a medical laboratory and/or knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
