About The Position

The Phlebotomist works in Outreach Phlebotomy Services at the Alverno PSC Stones Crossing location in Greenwood, Indiana. The role collects blood specimens, performs laboratory office duties, and processes laboratory specimens. Office work includes registering patients, entering required data into the computer system, accessioning specimens, answering telephone calls, and processing paperwork. Specimen processing includes preparing specimens for testing or shipment to a central or reference laboratory. The position handles blood, body fluid, and urine specimens according to established procedures and may perform authorized limited waived and specified non-waived point-of-care tests. At some facilities, the employee may act as a driver and participate in an on-call rotation. The position is listed as 40 hours per week, with an FTE of 1.0.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Previous phlebotomy experience and/or training is required.
• Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
• May be required to travel or drive to other locations.

• Background in a medical laboratory and/or knowledge of medical terminology.
