About The Position
This position draws blood from patients for medical testing, procedures, and diagnosis under the direct supervision of a licensed physician.
Requirements
- Successful completion of a phlebotomy program.
- 0 to 1 year of experience, preferably including experience in a clinical setting; diagnostic testing experience preferred.
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT).
- Must be able to pass required pre-employment health and background screening.
- Must provide proof of required vaccinations by federal, state, and local funding sources.
- Employees driving personal vehicles for El Proyecto business must provide El Proyecto proof of a valid driving license, and auto liability insurance.
- Walking, talking, sitting, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 10 pounds; hand and wrist dexterity to utilize a computer.
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
Responsibilities
- Meet with patients in a clinic setting, establishing identity before performing the procedure.
- Draw blood in a proper manner, using established protocols, and dispose of sharp instruments in a rigid sharps container.
- Verify and collect proper samples and accurately label specimens.
- Process lab requisitions, forms, and specimens.
- Follow standard precautions at all times.
- Clean and supply venipuncture trays.
- Keep current and accurate records.
- Interact professionally with the patient and the patient’s family or representatives.
- Consider patient cultural, psychological, social, and environmental factors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
