About The Position

This position is responsible for collecting and processing venous and capillary samples from all patient age groups. The role involves performing and documenting therapeutic phlebotomies, documenting and recording samples/results, and accessioning and processing referral testing samples. Additionally, the phlebotomist will maintain records, files, and route patient reports, perform assigned clerical duties, and participate in and promote QA activities. The work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood or other body fluids. The position requires demonstrating basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs. Information and data within the scope of the position must be treated with appropriate confidentiality and security. The employee must cooperate fully in all Risk Management, Quality Management, and Safety Activities and Investigations.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • 6 months phlebotomy preferred
  • Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position.
  • Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.
  • Cooperates fully in all Risk Management, Quality Management, and Safety Activities and Investigations.

Nice To Haves

  • Formal phlebotomy training preferred
  • Certified Phlebotomist, CMA, EMT-B preferred
