This part-time, 3rd shift Phlebotomist position is responsible for verifying positive patient identification, assessing patient reactions to specimen procurement, and performing venipuncture and collecting other specimens from patients of all age groups. The role involves ensuring specimens are collected according to protocol, properly labeled, and suitable for testing. Additionally, the Phlebotomist will resolve specimen identification and requisition issues, perform limited testing under CLIA guidelines, answer telephones, assist with inventory and supplies, and support billing functions. The position also includes receiving, sorting, packaging, and tracking specimens for transport, ordering and verifying test requests, documenting information for quality assurance, running quality control checks, notifying providers of critical results, performing laboratory result entry, and conducting proficiency testing. The Phlebotomist will also review reports, generate and distribute reports, and instruct employees and students in phlebotomy and related functions. A key requirement is the ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
