About The Position

Phlebotomist (Temporary Full-Time) Lake Butler Hospital, a vital healthcare provider in North Florida, is dedicated to delivering high-quality, compassionate care to our community. As a critical access hospital offering 24-hour emergency services, inpatient hospitalization, rehabilitation, outpatient laboratory, and radiology services, we are committed to fostering a supportive environment for both our patients and staff. We are currently seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Phlebotomist to join our team on a temporary basis for approximately 10-16 weeks.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in phlebotomy, with proficiency in venipuncture techniques.
  • Strong clerical skills, including familiarity with computers, data entry, and office equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and infection control procedures.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3-4 years experience in blood sample collection.
  • 2 years+ experience in a hospital setting.
  • Specific knowledge of the human body related to venipuncture safety.
  • Must be able to perform blood collection on patients of all ages.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in phlebotomy from an accredited program is preferred.
  • Additional healthcare-related education is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensure proper labeling, handling, and processing of specimens in accordance with hospital protocols.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety and infection control standards.
  • Assist with clerical tasks including data entry, specimen tracking, and documentation using hospital computer systems.
  • Operate and troubleshoot office equipment such as fax machines, scanners, and telephones.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, providing clear instructions and ensuring a positive experience.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure timely and accurate laboratory results.
