Under the guidance of the Unit Supervisor, the phlebotomist assumes responsibility for performing venipuncture and related procedures under the mission, philosophy, policies, and procedures established by the hospital and department of Pathology. This role involves regular internal and/or external contacts requiring tact, discretion, and persuasion. The position works under general supervision, referring unusual situations to a supervisor, and periodically takes 'lead' responsibilities on a rotating basis.
