Collects clinical laboratory specimens and performs tasks associated with patient registration, order entry, and specimen processing with general supervision. Performs waived testing with general supervision. Provides logistical support to team members and general assistance to customers. This role requires the ability to perform venipunctures and collect other specimens, explaining proper collection procedures. The phlebotomist will clarify orders, perform registration, process requisitions, and verify billing information. They will also process, store, and transport specimens according to laboratory requirements, actively promote HNL Lab Medicine’s values, and maintain excellent customer relations. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of specimen requirements and collection devices, managing supply inventory, and ensuring a meticulous work area are also key responsibilities. The role includes assisting in the orientation and training of new staff, participating in Continuous Service Improvement and continuing education programs, and properly recording expense reimbursements. On-call and mobile service may be required, including travel to sites within 25 miles of the base location for coverage. Per diem work is determined by department needs and employee availability, requiring flexibility.
