About The Position

The Phlebotomist works in Outreach Phlebotomy Services at the Alverno PSC Greater Lafayette location in Lafayette, Indiana. The role collects blood specimens, performs laboratory office duties, and processes laboratory specimens. Office duties include registering patients, entering required information into the computer system, accessioning specimens, answering telephone calls, and processing paperwork. Specimen processing includes preparing specimens for testing or for shipment to a central or reference laboratory. The employee handles blood, body fluid, and urine specimens according to established procedures and may perform authorized limited waived and specified non-waived point-of-care tests. At some facilities, the employee may also drive as required and participate in an on-call rotation.

The position is listed as 36 hours per week (0.9 FTE). The stated schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, and Saturday, 8:00 AM–12:00 PM, with a weekend and/or holiday rotation. The work location is 1345 Unity Place, Suite 125, Lafayette, IN 47905.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Previous phlebotomy experience and/or training.
• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
• May be required to travel or drive to other locations.

• Background in a medical laboratory and/or knowledge of medical terminology.
