Requirements

  • Basic phlebotomy skills with certificate
  • Ability to complete the duties and responsibilities of this position accurately and efficiently regardless of the pressures of the environment
  • Sufficient technical knowledge and skills to support the needs of the organization
  • Verbal and written communication skills to support the efficient and effective transfer of data/information
  • In order to demonstrate competency in serving acute care, and critical care patients, the employee must demonstrate the skills/knowledge/resources of laboratory services population specific learning module.
  • Demonstrated baseline competency in all areas of the indicated skill rosters meets standard
  • Valid Phlebotomy Certification from the State of California required
  • Current BLS (AHA) required

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a clinical laboratory preferred
  • High School Graduate/equivalent preferred

Responsibilities

  • Follows established procedures to perform routine and STAT blood collection and specimen processing for all laboratory testing.
  • Performs preventive maintenance, humidity, and temperature checks of refrigerators, freezers, heat blocks and other equipment as assigned.
  • Performs routine maintenance of centrifuges, hoods, and other laboratory equipment.
  • Assists in maintaining phlebotomy and blood collection supplies and other inventory.
