The Phlebotomist role involves assisting in determining donor suitability, establishing rapport with donors to ensure customer satisfaction and confidentiality, responding to donor reactions, and monitoring donors and equipment. The role also includes setting up, operating, and disconnecting automated plasmapheresis machines, as well as disconnecting and disposing of contaminated equipment. The work is performed in a plasma center with potential exposure to biological fluids, infectious organisms, electrical equipment, and extreme cold. Personal protective equipment is required. The job involves standing for 6-8 hours per day, with bending, twisting, and frequent hand and foot movements. Light lifting of up to 15lbs, with a maximum of 50lbs, and reaching below shoulder height may be required. Hearing acuity, color perception, and specific vision capabilities are essential.
