About The Position

This position is responsible for performing phlebotomy procedures, including collecting blood samples from patients of all ages. The role involves interacting with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. The phlebotomist will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols, and ensuring accurate labeling and handling of specimens.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a phlebotomy training program preferred.
• Previous experience in phlebotomy preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to handle stressful situations and work under pressure.
• Basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

• Certification from a recognized phlebotomy organization (e.g., ASCP, AMT).

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections.
• Identify patients and verify orders.
• Explain procedures to patients and address any concerns.
• Ensure proper patient preparation before sample collection.
• Label specimens accurately and according to laboratory standards.
• Transport specimens to the laboratory in a timely manner.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Adhere to all infection control policies and procedures.
• Document all procedures and patient information accurately.
• Assist with other related duties as assigned.
