Phlebotomist II has experience and can independently perform venipunctures and skin punctures on all age groups, from neonates through adults, to obtain blood specimens. This role requires knowledge of processing specimens for analysis and the ability to utilize appropriate computer systems to register patients, facilitate billing, accession laboratory specimens, and provide information. Phlebotomist II is responsible and accountable for performing a wide range of tasks to provide a specimen of highest analytical quality for testing and accurate information for clients. This includes performing duties to support the goals and objectives of providing quality patient care and patient satisfaction. It is the duty of a phlebotomist to make patients feel relaxed and protected while collecting a blood sample. The ability to explain the blood drawing process to patients and to show a comforting attitude toward patients creates an amiable environment. Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.
