About The Position

The Phlebotomist performs blood collection by venipuncture and heel-stick, assists with specimen preparation and clerical duties, and performs other duties as assigned. The role collects requested blood specimens from inpatients and outpatients, prepares samples for laboratory analysis, and prepares specimens for pickup by a reference laboratory.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid California Certified Phlebotomy Technician I certificate.
• BLS certification.

Nice To Haves

• A minimum of three months of experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain requested blood specimens from inpatients and outpatients using venipuncture and heel-stick techniques.
• Prepare blood samples for laboratory analysis by centrifugation.
• Maintain venipuncture supplies and prepare acquisition lists as needed.
• Clean work areas.
• Log specimens and prepare them for analysis.
• Check the pending list for specimens not drawn and follow up as necessary.
• Prepare specimens for pickup by a reference laboratory.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
