This role involves performing venipuncture and skin punctures competently and expediently. The Phlebotomist-Processor will have thorough knowledge of test requirements and will assist in the Clinical Laboratory as needed. The position requires operating hematology, urinalysis, and chemistry analyzers to provide test results for patient diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, the role involves researching specimen requirements for reference labs, arranging for critical specimen handling and complex transportation, and maintaining a clean and stocked work area. The Phlebotomist-Processor will also perform needed maintenance on analyzers, maintain daily logs, and track collected specimens. Proficiency in using the LIS system for documenting specimens and ordering tests is essential. The role also includes recognizing and reporting system failures, inconsistent results, and unusual test orders. Contributing to a safe and secure environment, maintaining patient confidentiality, and adhering to professional standards and regulations are key aspects of this position. Understanding OSHA guidelines, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and the ability to train on CBC and point-of-care equipment are also required. The Phlebotomist-Processor will work the LIS pending list to completion daily and must be flexible to travel and assist at other locations based on business needs.
